London and across England
From our offices at Liverpool Street in London and Colchester in Essex, we support companies across England. We use video-conferencing wherever possible for client meetings. This cuts down on travel and related costs, meaning that we can provide excellent value for money.
We operate on a fixed fee policy across all of our legal services wherever possible. This includes drafting and advising on employment contracts. Our employment contract solicitors usually work with clients remotely. They are available for that in-person contact if needed.
We have employment contracts solicitors in London and Essex. As most clients prefer virtual meetings using Teams or other video-conferencing software, we are flexible and work to what suits you.
Understanding Employment Contracts
An employment contract is the contract between a business and an employee. They can be full time or part time (such as zero-hours). They can be fixed-term or temporary contracts. With all types of contract, you must treat your employees fairly and avoid unlawful discrimination. This includes giving your part-time employees the same rights (proportionate to their hours) and treatment as full-time staff.
For executives, such as a director or sales staff, a more detailed contract is usually put in place. This is because they usually have more power to damage your business and try and steal away your customers if they leave and go to work for a competitor. To help protect your business, that contract is likely to need restrictive covenants that apply if the director or sales staff leaves the employment. It may also have a “gardening leave” provision. Both of those clauses protect the business’s customer-base and goodwill. However, there is a balance in that they musty not be more restrictive than is necessary to protect your business. We can help you strike the right balance.
It is a legal requirement to provide all employees with written particulars of their employment. These requirements can be viewed on the employment contracts section of the Government’s website.
